With technology at the forefront of everything these days it seems that every industry has had to drastically up its game, and rightly so. In the world of architecture, North West based firm Studio RBA are making a lot of noise so Trailblazer spoke to them about just what it takes to design, co-ordinate and develop some of these eye-catching developments we see around.

Adam Morgan, founder of Studio RBA was keen to point out that old school architects are a thing of the past. He said ‘with the world of technology moving at such a fast pace we see it as a great opportunity to integrate it into our work and provide our clients with every eventuality by using our technical prowess, ultimately this results in a smoother construction process.’

Studio RBA at their core are experienced architects, but also behold a plethora of other skills such as CG imagery, virtual reality and graphic design. It’s because of these skills they have obtained over 100 commissions in the last 18 months, which include +100 houses,+200 hotel rooms and + 300 apartments, with a combined construction cost totalling over £100 million.

Some notable projects oflate have been a real mixed bag for Studio RBA, a challenge they relish. For example, the conversion Gostins Building in Liverpool city centre from an old commercial warehouse to a hotel containing 154 rooms, plus a proposal of a rooftop extension to compliment the building further. At the opposite end of the scale, Studio RBA were approached by Rushton Properties to propose 10 high end properties in the affiuent area of Woolton, each property will be valued between £1-1.5 million. One of the key aspects here was to ensure the development preserved the areas natural beauty, so each unit will be partially earth-sunken to ensure open views throughout the site. Back into the city centre, Studio RBA have been working with Eloquent Developments on a £15.5 million project in the creative Baltic area, boasting 17 4 luxurious apartments.

It’s encouraging to see a local company at the forefront of their industry, and loving every second of it. For Adam and his team, this is just the start. We look forward to catching up with them soon.
