From Market Stall to National Fame: The Journey of a Young Tech Entrepreneur
Just six months into his entrepreneurial journey, 26-year-old Kieron Loomes from Devon is making waves in the business world as he sails into the final of a national competition for young traders. Starting with a vibrant stall known as Tech Guy Tavistock in Tavistock Pannier market in January 2025, Kieron’s venture specializes in selling nostalgic tech items like Pokémon cards, Tamagotchis, and retro consoles.
Kieron expressed his passion for his work, stating, “it’s absolutely my purpose in life,” showing his commitment to his craft. Besides retail, he also offers repair services for computers and electrical gadgets, enhancing the value and appeal of his business. His dedication paid off at the National Market Traders Federation Young Traders Competition, where he was awarded Highly Commended Retailer during the regional final in Bristol on June 1. This prestigious recognition has earned him a spot in the national finals set to take place in Stratford-upon-Avon in August, which is anticipated to draw in about 50,000 visitors.
Despite facing challenges due to ADHD, Kieron views his condition as both a curse and a superpower, saying it makes him ”good with tech, but bad at other things.” His sister, Ellie Cookson, plays a vital role in the business as his manager, helping him navigate his tasks and ensuring he doesn’t feel overwhelmed. Ellie appreciates Kieron’s technical prowess, noting, “He knows too much!”
Kieron has built a loyal following online, particularly on TikTok, where he shares his passion for technology. His motivation isn’t driven by wealth; rather, he is focused on his mission to help people and continue his business journey for years to come, captured in his words: “I honestly just want to help people and I want to be able to do this forever.” This inspiring story illustrates the power of passion and perseverance in the face of challenges.
