A New Chapter: Boris and Carrie Johnson Welcome Their Fourth Child, Poppy
In an exciting announcement, Boris and Carrie Johnson have shared the arrival of their newest family member, a girl named Poppy Eliza Josephine Johnson, born on May 21. Carrie shared her joy through an Instagram post featuring a series of heartwarming photos of their newborn. Describing Poppy as ”pretty and tiny,” Carrie expressed her overwhelming gratitude, stating, ”Feel so incredibly lucky. We are all totally smitten.”
Poppy joins her brothers Wilfred and Frank, and sister Romy, making her the ninth child for Boris, who has four grown children from a previous marriage and another daughter from an affair. The couple’s recent addition, affectionately nicknamed ”Pop Tart,” comes as a joyful surprise, especially for Romy, who had been ”desperate for a little sister.”
In her posts, Carrie detailed the challenges of the first days, humorously noting her lack of sleep due to constantly gazing at Poppy’s beauty. She also extended her heartfelt thanks to the maternity team at University College London Hospital, crediting them for their outstanding care throughout her pregnancies.
The Johnsons welcomed their first two children while living in Downing Street amidst the Covid pandemic, and Frank was born in July 2023, marking the couple’s first child after Boris’s tenure as Prime Minister. Carrie hinted that Poppy will likely be their last child, referring to her as the ”final gang member.” The family appears to be embracing this new chapter with immense joy and excitement.
