Turmoil in Your Party: Second MP Exits Amid Allegations and Infighting

A second MP, Iqbal Mohamed, has left Your Party, the new left-wing coalition founded by Jeremy Corbyn and former Labour MP Zarah Sultana. His departure is tied to ongoing internal conflicts and references to “false allegations and smears made against me”. Previously, Adnan Hussain also resigned, citing a ”toxic” culture within the party towards Muslim men. Mohamed’s statement emphasized the need for a genuine, inclusive force for positive change in British politics while expressing disappointment in the false narratives overshadowing the group.

Your Party, which was established as a response to the perceived failures of the current Labour leadership, has become entangled in factional strife, including disputes over managing £800,000 in donations. Mohamed indicated that he and his colleagues have behaved in a professional manner amid the tensions. He has announced his intention to continue working with the Independent Alliance, which includes Corbyn and four other MPs.

With their first conference scheduled for November 29 in Liverpool, where members will define their official name and leadership structure, Your Party has struggled to gain traction against the Green Party, which has experienced a significant surge in membership following a leadership change. The political landscape remains dynamic, with conference events promising to outline the group’s future direction amidst these challenges.
